New FAQ: How to install custom content?

The Downloadfolder

The first step is to determine whether the download folder exists. It should be in a folder called My Documents. Depending on which version of Windows you are running, it is either on your desktop or on your Start Menu.

In your My Documents folder should be a folder called "EA Games". If you click on it, there should be a folder inside called "Sims 2". Clicking on that brings up several more folders, but the one you are looking for is called "Downloads". This is where all of your custom content should go.

If you do not see the Downloads folder, it is easy to create: Simply click "File" and then "New". A submenu will come up. Click on "Folder". This will generate a new folder. Rename that folder "Downloads". Now you are ready to install your custom content.

File you'll need to use:Files ending in ".zip" need to be opened with an unzipper. Some versions of Windows already have one installed, but the older versions don't (older than XP). To open these folders, you will need a program called "Winzip". You can use google and find it on the internet.

Files ending in ".rar" need to be opened with a program like "WinAce" or "WinRAR". Again. google will help you find this program.

Files ending in ".package" should go to your downloads folder directly. These files are found in zips and rars. Sometimes these files are prepackaged in another type of file that ends in ".Sims2Pack". These files will have a different picture and if you click them, they will start a program to install your custom content for you. All you have to do is open the file, click the "Install" button, and then the "Done" button and you're all set. It puts it into the correct folder for you.

Lientebollemeis asked me to convert some of her Sims 2 careers and I was very happy to do that! So this is one of her careers, Babysitter!

It was requested for Sims 2 by Superstar001.

You find here a conversion for the Sims 3. So any additional texts, info etc are by me, but the original idea is from Lientebollemeis and Superstar001.

Here is the full information for the career for Sims 3. The career is located at the Hospital. It has one custom tone, Chat to Children, which builds the Charisma skill.

Technical Stuff:

This career was made with patch 1.36 and should work with all lower patches. It requires only the base game to run and should work with any combination of expansion and stuff packs. It works in my game but if you have problems, let me know :

Remake of all Maxis' careers for Sims 2

A lot of people already requested some of these careers. This is a huge project of over 30 careers.
I remade all careers available in Sims 1 and 3 (Sims 2 careers are available for Sims 2 of course).
- When a career was double I only created it once. E.g.: Paranormal in Sims 1 & 3 is exactly the same so then I only create it once (this is just an example. I don't know if it's true for Paranormal)
- It was hard to find good icons. I hope they're satisfactionary.
- For some careers I used the same Icon (E.g. Spa Specialist and receptionist) So there are more careers than icons.
- It's possible you see some careers twice (E.g. Entertainment). They have different descriptions, hours, wages,... So I consider them as different careers.

I started this project at the beginning of 2011. After over 1,5 year it's finally uploaded.

Lientebollemeis asked me to convert some of her Sims 2 careers and I was very happy to do that! So this is one of her careers, Tattoo Artist!
It was requested for the Sims 2 by Anaiyia.

You find here a conversion for the Sims 3. So any additional texts, info etc are by me, but the original idea is from Lientebollemeis and Anaiyia.

Here is the full information for the career for Sims 3. The career is located at the Day Spa and the focus is on Painting. It has two custom tones, Practise Tattooing, which builds the hidden Tattooing skill (if you have Ambitions installed) and Design Artwork, which builds the Painting skill. I don't know what will happen if you do not have Ambitions installed and use the Practise Tattooing tone.

Technical Stuff:

This career was made with patch 1.36 and should work with all lower patches. It requires only the base game to run (Although will require Ambitions for the first custom tone to work) and should work with any combination of expansion and stuff packs. It works in my game but if you have problems, let me know :)

Since I'm not fluent in any language other than English, the career is only written in the one language. So if you're interested in translating, download the Language Strings file and open it in Notepad.

It was requested for the Sims 2 by Shout5.

You find here a conversion for the Sims 3. So any additional texts, info etc are by me, but the original idea is from Lientebollemeis and Shout5.

Here is the full information for the career for Sims 3. The career is located at the Business and Journalism Building and the focus is on Charisma and Writing. It has two custom tones, Write Reports, which builds the Writing skill and Conduct Interviews, which builds the Charisma Skill. This career does have uniforms for levels 3-10.

Career Levels

Broadcast Journalism Career ~ Like the idea of reporting important events and being on television at the same time? Then maybe you should try your hand at Broadcast Journalism!

1. High School Newscaster ~ From mystery meat and dirty restrooms to test corruption and the coolest teachers and faculty. You're working mighty hard to let the students know of everything going on around campus. Also, make sure you go about your stories in entertaining ways, because sometimes it's you who wakes the students up for the day.
Wages: §21/hour
Days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
Work hours: 9.00am ~ 4.00pm

2. College Campus Broadcaster ~ What! A PEEPING TOM ON CAMPUS!!!!! With your journalistic instincts around you'll let no suspicious activity uncovered. Now thanks to you, several students can lay their heads down at night with a higher feeling of security.
Wages: §42/hour
Days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
Work hours: 9.00am ~ 4.00pm

3. Newscaster Intern ~ You're not just getting coffee and donuts, you actually receive an accurate feel of what the career is like. Your eyes are opened to the toughness, demand, and competiveness of the field, but with your determination, there's nothing that will stop you.

Days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
Work hours: 10.00am ~ 4.00pm

4. Weekend Special Reporter ~ The weekend is your favourite time of the week. Yes, it's a bit odd. While the weekend is typically everyone’s' day off, it's your time to shine. Keep working hard and you'll have more than just 6 minutes of air time on two days of the week. Other days of the week are spent gathering the information for your reports.

Days: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday
Work hours: 3.00pm ~ 11.00pm

5. Daily Special Reporter ~ Well you must have done a great job with your weekend reports. The higher officials like you, and now you give a special report daily. But that doesn't necessarily mean you'll work all 7 days of the week. Monday - Friday is all you need with re-runs of your reports being played on the weekends.

Work hours: 9.00am ~ 5.00pm

6. Weekend News Host ~ Wow, it seems you have natural talent in what you do. Now you get to host the news on the weekends. Keep working towards the top and moving on in the world of Broadcast Journalism. You never know what will happen next.

Work hours: 3.00pm ~ 11.00pm

7. Morning News Co-Host ~Everyone wakes up to your face in the morning. They are excited to see what you have to say. If they really like you they may want you to end their evenings as well. There is a downside, and that is that you will now have to wake up very early to prepare for the show. But that's the least of your worries, in this competitive industry, you'll need to be as charismatic and creative as possible.

8. Evening News Anchor ~ The city learns most of their information from you at night. You get to sleep in, but that only compensates for the additional late nights you will be having. Make sure you are persevering, today is never a day to give up.

Work hours: 2.00pm ~ 11.00pm

9. National News Anchor ~ Hard work is extremely beneficial. Look at how far you've come. Once on closed circuit school television, you've made it to the national television waves. Now is probably the most competitive level of the broadcast journalism industry, but it's nothing you can't handle.

10. News Show Host ~ Like Larry King and Barbara Walters, you now have your own news show. It's greatly paying and highly rewarding. It may not have been the easiest, but you have no regrets about the work you've done. There's definitely a lot of things to be proud of. Oh yeah, and remember that determination mentioned in the beginning of this career, it has finally paid off. Welcome to the top of Broadcast Journalism.

It was requested for the Sims 2 by VikiAREi.

Here is the full information for the career for Sims 3. The career is located at the Theatre and the focus is on Athletic, with a bit of Charisma, Cooking and Painting. It has one custom tone, Warm Up, which builds the Athletic skill.

Career Levels

Professional Ballerina Career ~ Ever dreamed of becoming a ballerina professionally? Perhaps you excelled at ballet club at elementary school? Then join today and dance your way to fame!

1. Amateur Dancer ~ Though you are the lead dancer for your ballet studio, it's still far from the top. The pay might not be much, but it puts your foot in the door for a career. Work hard on building up your body and creativity skills. Make sure you keep that smile of your beautiful too. You never know who might be in the audience watching!
Wages: §16/hour
Days: Friday, Saturday, Sunday
Work hours: 4.00pm ~ 9.00pm

2. Trainee ~ Congratulations, you've been found! A talent scout for a professional program was in the audience for the last show. She loved the creativity of your costume, your graceful and fluid movements, and your charming smile. She will train and tutor you one-on-one so you can apply to a dance school. But getting into a school is no cakewalk. You will need to work on your body skills to remain flexible and loose. Also train your mind; you'll be able to "feel" the rhythm much better if you have a deeper understanding of the music.

3. Ballet School Student ~ After a hard and long training program, you've been accepted into The Royal Ballet School!! But just having a good teacher or two isn't going to make you into a ballet dancer. You’ll need to do everything properly to minimize the risk of injury. Research how your body works in response to ballet (anatomy, etc.), imagery in ballet, and other things like that to help you get a better sense of your body. Analyze lead dancers (principles, soloists), the corps de ballet members ("background dancers" in a company), and students to see what makes them different. What do they do differently? How do they do it? These and more are all the questions you should asking and applying to yourself.

4. Contract Dancer ~ You’ve graduated from dance school, and now you have a contract with a ballet company! Also, now that you are working professionally in ballet you’ll need to watch your eating habits. Learn to cook healthy and filling recipes so you stay fit and focused during your performances.

5. Corps de Ballet Member ~ Corps de Ballet literally means the “The Body of the Ballet”, which is a really nice and fancy way of saying background dancer. Since nobody wants to be in the backdrop forever the competition is stiff; keep up the practicing, eating healthy, and don’t slack on your books! There will be only a few opportunities to show off your amazing talents so get creative. Also don’t forget to relax a little and enjoy the scenery, you’ve worked hard to get into a company, so enjoy it! (Making new friends might help you move up faster too…)

6. Soloist ~ You’ve proven yourself as a cut above the others in the Corps de Ballet. You will now have a solo piece to do! Maybe you can get some tips and pointers from some of the other soloists…

7. Guest Artist ~Your body is like a piece of artwork, and now others are starting to notice this too! You’ve been asked to be a guest in another company’s production. And it’s a solo piece too! Don’t forget ballet is considered another style of acting, so study up your role and find a way to jazz up your costume a little!

8. Principal ~ You did it! You are now the lead dancer for your ballet company! You will now get the opportunity to play leading roles such as Don Quixote in “Don Quixote” and Odette in “Swan Lake”. You never know who might be watching you design the costumes, if they really like them they might see you for all the talent you are really worth.

People from all around the world come to see you dance. They talk about how graceful and beautiful your body is and ask for your autograph. You now have not only any say with what’s going on with a production you can pick who you want to act with! People now come to you for dance advice and to create new dance techniques for the ballet world!

10. Prima Ballerina Assoluta/ Premier Danseur Noble ~ Congratulations, you have achieved the highest honour granted to any ballet dancer! Your name is now synonymous with greatness! They want to write books about you and name ballet schools and new techniques after you. Only a very talented few have made it to the point that you have. This is truly the dream job!!
